Kelly Driver
Tell us a little bit about yourself?
I am Kelly Driver, Contemporary Abstract Artist from Melbourne. I live with my 3 children (2 sons and a daughter), and we will be bringing home our new puppy in December. He is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
I absolutely adore painting Acrylic Pour artworks, specialising in the Dutch Pour technique. However, I also love painting in other styles on occasion. Being an artist is one of my 2 jobs, the other pre covid was in sales and marketing for Gray Line Melbourne, but now I am doing HR projects for Driver Bus Lines. It is wonderful having 2 jobs.
What is your favourite drink?
My morning coffee from my coffee machine is one of my favourite parts of the day. I also love wine, red and white!
What inspired you to start painting?
I have always loved creating art. I enjoyed ceramics in high school, then stopped creating for way too long, before picking up a paint brush during 2020 Covid lockdowns when I was feeling restless; it was a fantastic outlet. I discovered acrylic pouring on Youtube, and loved the use of colour and the abstract style. My children, mother and my partner Dan are incredibly supportive of my artistry career.
How can we support you?
By following me on Instagram (or facebook), and telling your friends and family about me! My aim is to have a strong rapport with my followers.
What advice would you give other artists/creatives starting out?
Practice, practice, practice! Something worth fighting for rarely comes easily. So just keep going and believe in yourself. Go where your heart is taking you, and paint what you feel, not what someone else wants you to.
