Victoria Featon

Tell us a little bit about yourself?
I am a nature loving, music & animal adoring creative mumma and wifey who loves to bask in the beauty of the Sunny Coast.

I was fortunate enough to have a career change after 10 plus years of being in sales which lead me back to doing what I love, art. Since I picked it back up and focused on it, my art flourished. Not long after that, I was blessed with a bub and since then I have happily loved raising my little dude, (along with my second child, my little art business).

What is your favourite drink?
I can’t go past a nice drop of red...(accompanied with cheese of course.) Or a well done strawberry margarita, (with real strawberries🤤) they’re like a diamond in the rough.

What inspired you to start painting/drawing?
I have been a creative in various forms as long as I can remember.

I started painting landscapes in oil then acrylic in my mid 20’s. After a while I was craving something without the ridged form of landscapes so started fluid art and resin in 2014 which was only really done in America at the time and found it really hard to get here. I had to source it from my local surf board supplier and have had an avid addiction ever since.

I have a soul driven love for the ocean. From a child I’ve never felt so drawn to anything more in my life and I love the way resin can be manipulated to represent the ocean in turn bring the feeling of peace and freedom it provides.

What advice would you give other artists/creatives starting out?

I believe art is a language of the soul so take an moment to tap in to what your soul would like to express.

Make it come from you and try not to do art for art sake or get influenced by others too much.

Also don’t give up, there will tough moments but as long as it continues to sing to you, keep doing it, even if it’s just for your eyes.
