April Psonis
Tell us a little bit about yourself?
I’m a mum and a self taught freelance artist from Melbourne. I’ve always experimented with different styles, mainly realism, however in the past few years I’ve been drawn to a more fluid approach. I find this style super relaxing and easy to zen out when the little bebe gives me a minute to myself haha. All of my works are intentional pieces and created with meaning, this is something that is really important to me and I hope if comes through in my work.
What is your favourite drink?
Hmmm is it bad if I say wine?
What inspired you to start painting/drawing?
It’s something that has always come very naturally to me. My family is very creative so it was kind of engrained. It also really relaxes me I find it a cathartic process. How can we support you? It’s really hard out there at the moment especially with the algorithm that Insta has created for small business. The ongoing exposure to your large following is greatly appreciated.
What advice would you give other artists/creatives starting out? you need to make art you feel really passionate about, art that inspires you, irrelevant of how it’s perceived on social media. I guess what I’m saying is to not try and appeal to a “certain audience” But rather do whatever you like/enjoying doing and stick at it, at the end of the day just do what makes you happy and inspired and that will always come through in your work.
