Kelly Kondis

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

I am a self-employed mother of 3, a passionate renovator, a short-stay host and a creative spirit.

Living between the Dandenong Ranges and the Mornington Peninsula I am never wanting for inspiration. The misty mountains with their towering mountain ash, the rolling hills with verdant motivation and the big peninsula skies with an everchanging palette are always at the forefront of my creations.

Currently working from my studio in Sherbrooke I depict my beautiful local areas, landscapes from other's inspired settings and also places that are purely shaped from my imagination.

What is your favourite drink?

Coffee. Multiple double shots though I always cut myself off at 12pm.

What inspired you to start painting?

My mum was always sketching and creating eclectic vignettes way before it was fashionable.  Painting allows me to consolidate and frame my love of colour, texture and nature in one place.

How can we support you?

If you like my work maybe give me a like or follow on Instagram and let me know why you connect with my paintings.  If not, maybe wait to see more.

What advice would you give other artists/creatives starting out?

Create. And make. And the make some more.  I saw Brett Whitely talking about finding your own style on documentary a few years ago,  He said you need to make 1000 pieces before the originality of your own style will begin to emerge and it resonated with me. If you are already at this stage then share your work on social media and look for local creative hubs and groups in your area like MAVA Collective in Victoria to showcase and communicate with like-minded souls.
