Tell us a little bit about yourself?
My name is Paris, from Paris Sophie Art and I am an abstract painter from Brisbane. As well as exploring my creative side through painting, I also work full-time in marketing - yes, it can get busy sometimes! I have always been a creative person and follow in the footsteps of my grandfather who was an oil painter and great writer. Painting is my outlet and abstract techniques allow me the freedom to explore my emotions and create beauty from them on canvas.

What is your favourite drink?
My favourite drink would be anything from T2! But
I cant go past a beautiful Melbourne Breakfast to start the day and get my good vibes going.

What inspired you to start painting?
I was at a point in my life where I really needed an outlet to express myself and a space to create. I wasn’t sure exactly what that looked like in the beginning, but my partner encouraged me draw on my creative roots and get back to painting in which I had always casually dabbled in. I was super hesitant at first and to be honest definitely had a few failed attempts! But with my partners amazing support, I decided to take the pressure of myself to create “masterpieces”, let go and just have fun. When you decide to do something just for you and not for anyone elses consumption, the truest form of inspiration flows within.

How can we support you?
I love sharing what
I create with the world and bringing beauty into other peoples lives! The best support to me is reading the beautiful comments and messages from people who see some of their world in my work too. I love when those I have reached also continue to share with their circles. Art creates conversations and opinions and it is a privilege for people to want a piece of me on their walls in their home. There is nothing better.

What advice would you give other artists/creatives starting out?
My advice to other budding artists would be to just jump in feet first! Get out of your head, forget any insecurities you may have and just have fun. What you create should be from your heart and do what you love first, if other people love it too - that’s great! But that should be secondary to you exploring your passion. Take online art courses, follow artists on social media you love and just learn learn learn. Don’t be afraid to create a piece that doesn’t turn out perfectly - it’s all part of the process! But most importantly, my advice would be to not compare yourself to any other artist. Find your niche and nurture it, don’t think you have to conform to anyone else’s artistic style.
