MR Sista

Tell us a little bit about you?
I'm Meg one half of MR sista - two sisters located in Bathurst, regional NSW. We’ve both always been in our happiest places when creating, designing and ‘making things look good’. We both work in healthcare and MR sista is our creative outlet, I have a passion for rugged earthy tones and textures and love to add materials such as plaster and sand to my works.

What is your favourite drink?
That would have to be whatever my Sister (Rae) chooses, she is the wine connoisseur! Otherwise tea, tea and more tea... different varieties of course!

What inspired you to start painting?
In early 2020, we lost our beautiful Dad to a rare, debilitating condition. Over the weeks that followed we were inundated with the most truly stunning native floral arrangements; every one of his favourites.

With a few blank walls to fill in our homes, we set about paying homage to our dear Dad. Inspired by these and our (his) backyard, we created some personalised pieces that we could display for ourselves as a forever memory.

Family started to want some of our creations. Friends started to ask for commissions.

MR sista was launched in late 2020.

What advice would you give other artists/creatives starting out?
Explore your creativity, start with creating for yourself, your style, your groove, if you love what you are doing your creativity will be contagious and will be loved by others as well!
