Marni Korneluk

Tell us a little bit about yourself? 
My name is Marni Korneluk. I am a hyper realist pencil artist. I love creating magic with the scribble of a pencil. I usually muse on musicians and pet portraits but am turning my focus onto beautiful wildlife (which I have dabbled in before). I absolutely love drawing. It sets my soul on fire.

What is your favourite drink?
I would have to say my favourite drink would be a nice warm cup of tea. Followed by water + magnesium. For the more relaxed times I choose vodka lime and soda.

What inspired you to start drawing?
I have always drawn. I often say I was born with pencils in my hand. And my inspiration comes from my latest piece and seeing what I have created! And how I can push myself further.

What advice would you give other artists/creatives starting out?
For other artists starting out my advice would be to begin with what you have. You do not need expensive brands or the best studio. I’ve worked from our kitchen table to the corner of our lounge room before moving into my new studio. I’ve also used charcoal from our family fire pit nights when I haven’t had any supplies or money for them. Show up everyday. Not for social media but for you quiet and slow practice.

I will be looking at creating a ebook paired with a online “tutorial” or fact sheet on essentials for drawing. So keep a look out for that.
